SBA sets series of workshops in West Virginia

CLARKSBURG ─ The U.S. Small Business Administration will be holding several workshops designed to help demystify the government contracting process for West Virginia small business owners. These events will provide training on the SBA’s certification programs and will also cover how small businesses should handle their cost and pricing.

“The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act contains numerous avenues small businesses can follow to survive these current economic times,” said Judy McCauley, Director of SBA’s West Virginia District Office. “Federal contracting, one of the avenues available, can help small businesses to not only survive, but to actually flourish and expand. These training events can provide a small business with an excellent introduction to Federal contracting and how to take advantage of it.”

Workshops on the SBA’s 8(a) Certification Program are set for November 5 in Beckley and November 10 in Charleston. Registration for both can be made by contacting the Women’s Business & Training Center at (800) 766-4556 or (304) 253-3145 and by visiting www.westvirginiawbc.org .

On November 4, a Cost and Pricing workshop will be held at the Department of Energy in Morgantown. This workshop will offer an insight into understanding cost and pricing methods for federal contracts. Registration for this event can be made by contacting Naomi Bassel at (304) 623-7447 (email: naomi.bassel@sba.gov ).
